Because every story has a tail to tell
My greatest joy as a dog photographer is in telling your dog's story with my camera. Through head tilts, tail wags, zoomies, ball chases, puppy-dog eyes, treat catches, rock-star sits and smooches. Being a dog photographer is what I was born to do and I work my heart out to create beautiful images that bring a smile to every pet parent's face.
And hey, I also photograph people so you're very welcome to join your dog's session or book me for yourself!
For a little inspiration, here's a few photographic adventures around Upstate NY we might embark on together:
Forget Me Not session with your senior dog in Schenectady’s Central Park Rose Garden to honor their love and life once they've reached their twilight years
Hike in the Adirondacks to capture a stunning sunrise portrait of your dog at the peak of Saddleback Mountain
Cake smash session on a picnic blanket in Washington Park, Albany to celebrate your rescue pup's Gotcha Day
Splash session at the Dog Beach in Lake George, freezing in time the pure joy of your dog playing fetch in the water
Take a leisurely stroll around Saratoga Springs State Park, photographing all the sniffs, poses and zoomies along the way
The magic we can create together is limitless!

“All of the photos Amy took of my dog were amazing. It was extremely hard to pick which ones to get out of the proofs since she captured his personality so well in all of them.”

About Me
Hi, I’m the human behind the lens, Amy Z!
My adventure in dog photography started with that pretty girl receiving booty scratches in the attached image. Lark was my heart dog, my muse, and the reason I even began working with dogs 12+ years ago. After running several dog-related businesses covering a wide range of services, photography is the one that truly feels like home. My goal is always to use my craft and creative energy to bring people joy, tell a dog’s story and support causes that make a difference in this world.

Growth and gratitude are two pillars of my photography business and personally important to me. Merits achieved through professional photography competitions show that my skills as an artist are at, and above, a professional standard. And philanthropic efforts are my way to give back to others and support causes I believe in through my craft.

What sets me apart from other Capital Region photographers is my sole focus on dogs! I have experience photographing in other genres, like weddings and boudoir, but my passion and skillset is based on dogs.

YES! Most dogs I photograph outdoors are on leash for their entire session. Safety is the number one priority, and if we can’t 100% trust them to stay put when we need them to, then the leash stays on. Don’t worry, I will use my editing skills to remove the leash in post production, and when you see the finished product, you will be amazed since it looks like it was never there!
Check out my portfolio for images of dogs who were wearing collars and leashes—with maybe one exception!

Rest assured, most dogs are not fully trained and we still capture great images. I have methods for dealing with any challenges your dog might throw my way.
After booking, I’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out regarding your pet’s general personality and any particular quirks they might have. The questionnaire is also a chance to let me know how your pet tends to respond to new situations, what gets their attention and also what triggers them if they have any behavioral issues. Having all this info before the shoot is a great help so I know what to expect and how to approach each pet uniquely.

The short answer is an emphatic YES! For outdoor and studio sessions I can absolutely photograph all of your pack. There are a few caveats though:
I always recommend there be one human for every dog because I can’t be of much help wrangling dogs when I’m behind the camera and I promise that even two dogs is too much for one person in this situation—trust me.
Dogs have their own agenda so getting a pretty group shot is definitely doable, but might require a little behind-the-scenes editing magic to get the shot we love!
For mini sessions, whether or not I can photograph multiple family pets is dependent on the event and an additional fee will apply to cover the extra time I spend editing.
